Practice Director: Ralph Dieckmann

Perhaps the last decade of this century will be remembered as a 'golden age' for professional services firms.  With their 'brain trusts,' knowledge banks, and 'big-picture' perspectives, they're the ones who can cope -- if anyone can -- with the profound economic and communications changes of recent years.

Yet strong demand for the services and insights of professional firms, while great for revenues, does have a downside -- firms face constant pressure
to find great people, their most scarce yet most important resource.

It's not an easy task to recruit people who
can manage conceptually challenging projects in ways that build client ownership, who can design result-oriented solutions, and who can lead successful implementations.  And it's especially difficult because there are hundreds of other firms chasing the same relatively small candidate pool.

Great candidates for professional services firms are today's heroes and heroines:  self-reliant, forthright yet flexible, analytically intelligent, creatively intelligent, highly observant, insightful, intuitive, broad thinking and value-driven.  They pack endurance and a sense of humor in their well-used overnight bags as well.  Recruiting such heroes and heroines can be daunting, but it's a challenge we have successful met for nearly two decades.

Dieckmann & Associates has strong roots in the professional services world, with our founder Ralph Dieckmann having been a Senior Manager at KPMG Peat Marwick before starting his retained search firm in 1981.  We still work on behalf of that firm -- and many others as well -- to find the caliber of professionalism that our clients expect.  Having drawn many of our own staff from the ranks of consulting and accounting firms, we know and understand the world of professional services first-hand.

Our experiential knowledge is a primary reason why our firm was
ranked #2 in the US among all retained executive search firms for senior-level recruiting success on behalf of "Law, Accounting, and Consulting Firms."  (The New Career Makers, John Sibbald)

Our professional services clients have ranged from small, regional firms to multi-million dollar international groups.  Among those we have worked with through the years are:

Deloitte & Touche LLP
